EPFO has issued guidelines providing Standard Operating Procedure for Inspection of Establishments

Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (“EPFO”) has issued guidelines in continuation to the Standard Operating Procedure for Inspection of establishments issued through Circular No. CAIU/SOP/2022/(E-47416) dated 31.07.2023. Under these guidelines, the EPFO has ordered all the field offices to undertake a Desk Review of all the establishments (which are not marked as “closed”) at least once a year.

Under the said guidelines, after the periodic Desk Review, if deemed necessary, a physical inspection may be conducted in an establishment. The Regional/District Office will notify, and the establishment must provide a satisfactory response. Failure to do so will result in a request for a Physical Inspection being uploaded onto the CAIU Portal.

If an establishment has reported closure and provided all the relevant information, the field office will mark it as “closed” in Unified Portal upon verification as mentioned in the guidelines.
