In a Press Release dated 9th January, 2020 the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (“FSSAI”) has restricted any entity to register its website with the domain name comprising the word ‘FSSAI’ or to use its name and logo.
Further, through the Notification it is informed that applications for FSSAI license or registration by the Food Business Operators(FBOs) should only be made at the online Food Licensing and Registration portal of FSSAI by using the link given below :
Background:
It has come to the notice of FSSAI that a number of websites are operating with the domain name comprising the word ‘FSSAI’ along with suffix or affix ‘registration’, ‘license’, etc. Some of these websites have also used the FSSAI logo.
Being a statutory body constituted under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India Act, 2006, FSSAI has not given any entity the authorisation to register their domain with the name ‘FSSAI’ or use the logo.
Therefore, it is informed that care and caution should be exercised by FBOs while making applications for FSSAI license. Only the FSSAI’s licensing portal should be used for registration/ license application.
