Government of Tamil Nadu relaxes e-pass related restrictions with regard to inter-District movement; e-pass to be issued without delay; effective since 17th August, 2020

The Revenue and Disaster Management Department of Tamil Nadu (“Department”) has issued a Notification to partially modify earlier Notification number G.O.Ms. No. 396, dated 31st July 2020.

By virtue of the amendment, the Department seeks to amend the paragraph relating to E-Pass system. Previously, it was stated that the E-Pass system will continue to be in force for both Inter-State and Inter-District travel.

In the present amendment Notification,  with effect since 17th August 2020, the Department has allowed people to travel within the State (between Districts) for important work, by applying for the e-pass with the details of Aadhaar/ Ration card and telephone / mobile number and the e-pass will be issued without any delay to all applicants.

However, the Department has also stated that the present e-pass system/ restrictions will remain in effect for all persons entering the State from foreign countries and from other States.
