The Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Himachal Pradesh brings out an Advisory dated 5th February, 2019 listing out the necessary surveillance and preventive measures to be promptly undertaken by Health Care Providers against Swine Flu / Seasonal Influenza (H1N1)
The preventive measures which can be taken are as follows
- Early case detection, prompt treatment and timely referral in case of worsening conditions in patients with flu like syndrome.
- All health care providers need to be sensitised for early case detection.
- Every case of seasonal influenza should be thoroughly investigated so that severe manifestation and eventually death can be prevented.
- There should be dedicated beds for seasonal influenza in the hospitals.
- Ensure that the drug named Oseltamivir within 48 hours of illness without waiting for the laboratory results by strengthening the diagnosis in Category B and Category C cases.
- To ensure that all the drugs are available for the treatment.
- There should be proper vaccination of all the medical professionals and front line health workers.
- To ensure that all available ventilators are in functional conditions.
