Karnataka Labour Welfare Board further extends last date of payment of contributions for calendar year 2020 till 20.02.2021

In continuation of what has been reported by us earlier (please refer to the trailing emails), this is to inform you that the Karnataka Labour Welfare Board (“Board”) has extended the due date for payment of welfare fund (for the calendar year 2020) under the Karnataka Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1965 (“Act”) till 20th February, 2021.

The Board has developed a software for the payment of labour welfare fund online for the calendar year 2020. Many factories and firms have been facing technical issues and have requested an extension in the date of payment. In light of this the present extension is granted.

The web site address for payment under this Act is online at www.klwb.karnataka.gov.in.

Background:

Under the provisions of the Act, compulsory contribution has to be made by all factories, plantations, workshops, motor omnibus services and shops and commercial establishments/ ITBT firms employing more than 50 workers, charitable trusts, societies registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1960 etc.

Therefore every factory/ establishment has to pay the contribution at the ratio of Rs.20:40 (Employees Rs.20/ Employers Rs.40) total Rs.60/- on or before 15th January, every year.

Now, through the present extension granted, payment has to be made by 20th February, 2021.
