Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution informs there would be no prosecution for the shortcomings in the labelling requirements till 31st January, 2018

Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (“Ministry”) has, further to the update in the trail mail, issued a circular dated 2nd January, 2018 (“Circular”), to the Controllers of Legal Metrology for smooth implementation of the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Amendment Rules, 2017.

The Circular, among other points, states that there would be no prosecution for the shortcomings in the labelling requirements, in case of font size, till 31st January, 2018, if such font size does not affect the consumers in anyway.
