District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills in Shillong issues guidelines to implement Night Curfew in the District; effective since 10th August, 2020 till 17th August, 2020, from 9:00 pm to 5:00 am

With a view to contain, reduce and eliminate COVID-19, the District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya, has issued a curfew Order under Section 144 CrPC, implementing Night Curfew between 9:00 pm to 5:00 am in the District; effective since August 10, 2020 upto August 17, 2020.

The following services are exempted from the purview of the Night Curfew. However, they must strictly comply with all protocols and procedures:

1. IT Services, telecom, communications and postal service;

2. Press, Print & Electronic Media;

3. Security Forces;

4. Medical Teams on duty;

5. Wholesale and Retail Pharmacies;

6. Police and Armed Forces;

7. Fire & Emergency Service;

8. MeECL, NEEPCO & Power Grid;

9. Food and Civil Supply Department;

10. FCI;

11. Public Works Department (PWD);

12. Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department;

13. Shillong Municipal Board;

14. Petrol Pumps including Indian Oil Corporation (0IC);

15. Essential services including Health Services, Hospitals, Clinics, Dispensaries, Veterinary clinics, Labs;

16. Online/home food delivery. However, home delivery of food shall be exempted only upto 10:00 pm;

17. Authorized workshops and designated spare parts dealerships of Health and Family Welfare Department. Govt. of Meghalaya;

18. Government Officials on Duty;

19. Officers and Staff of Corona Care Centres;

20. Information & Public Relations Department;

21. National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL);

The above-mentioned must strictly comply with all protocols and procedures including social distancing, limiting of field staff to the barest minimum and other advisories of Government in the Health and Family Welfare Department.

Furthermore, movement of vehicles carrying essential commodities, security forces, medial equipments, and shops for repair of trucks on highways have also been exempted from the restrictions imposed by the present Order. However, drivers and attendants of vehicles will be subject to the medical screening as per protocols.

Please note:

1. The Order contains a list of areas (Containment Zones) wherein the exemptions granted to official / non-official emergency / essential services will not extend.

2. Curfew passes for timings falling between 09:00 pm to 05:00 am with effect from August 10, 2020 (Monday) upto August 17, 2020 (Monday) may be obtained by making an online application for the same at www.eastkhasihills.gov.in.
